Whether their angel is a family member or a good friend, that angel is always there to comfort them. However, when the angel is having problems themselves, the author steps in and feels obligated to comfort their angel. Basically, if someone is always their to comfort you and make you feel better, you should do the same for them if they are in need. To me, that sounds like what's going on in this song.
