I love this song from Belinda Carlisle. I was just a kid when the song came out, and now by looking at the lyrics and hearing it again after more than 20 years, I just can't stop listening to it.

Belinda Carlisle brings Betty White's Lost Valentine movie to life in this song, Summer Rain. She speaks of the love and bittersweet sadness of being a military wife/girlfriend who has to grasp the reality that she would be alone holding onto her memories when the train comes to get her love away from her. She describes the train as being a military train so he is definitely military and has to go away to do what he does, and she knows that she may or may not see him again. She clearly understands that nothing is guaranteed in the military. That is why she creates this almost nostalgic memories for her to hold onto when he's not there.
