Whispering our goodbyes, waiting for a train
I was dancing with my baby in the summer rain
I can hear him saying "nothing will change"
Come dance with me baby, in the summer rain

I remember the rain on our skin
And his kisses hotter than the Santa Ana winds
Whispering our goodbyes, waiting for a train
I was dancing with my baby in the summer rain

I remember laughing 'till we almost cried
There at station that night
I remember looking in his eyes

Oh my love, it's you and that I dream of
Oh my love, since that day
Somewhere in my heart I'm always
Dancing with you in the summer rain

Doesn't matter what I do now
Doesn't matter what I say
Somewhere in my heart I'm always
Dancing with you in the summer rain

I can hear the whistle military train
I was dancing with my baby, in the summer rain
I can here him singing "Ooh, Love Is Strange"
Come dance with me baby, in the summer rain

I remember the rain pouring down
And we poured our hearts out as the train pulled out
I can see my baby waving from the train
It was last time that I saw him in the summer rain

Oh my love, it's you and that I dream of
Oh my love, since that day
Somewhere in my heart I'm always
Dancing with you in the summer rain

Doesn't matter what I do now
Doesn't matter what I say
Somewhere in my heart I'm always
Dancing with you in the summer rain

Every time I see the lightning
Every time I hear the thunder
Every time I close the window
When this happens in the summer

Oh, the night is so inviting
I can feel that you are so close
I can feel you when the wind blows
Blows right through my heart

Oh my love, it's you and that I dream of
Oh my love, since that day
Somewhere in my heart I'm always
Dancing with you in the summer rain

Every night and every day now
Though I know you've gone away
Somewhere in my heart I'm always
Dancing with you in the summer rain

Doesn't matter what I do now
Doesn't matter what I say
Somewhere in my heart I'm always

This song makes me sooo sad. She's basicly saying that no matter what she does, she can't get over her bf/husband/partner, she's always remembering the emotional night in which she saw him last, dancing with him in the rain.

And no matter what she does, absolutely everything reminds her of him:

"Every time I see the lightening Every time I hear the thunder Every time I close the window When this happens in the summer.... ...I can feel that you are so close I can feel you when the wind blows"

yeah i gotta admit this song is really cool! not really sure what its about though... the guy has left her or something - maybe he was killed? i think she is telling of how she will always love him even though he can't be with her anymore and everything reminds her of him and the time that they danced together in the summer rain. dancing in the rain with the person you love is a really memorable moment!

Nice song, like this one - such a weird feeling when you listen to it, like mysterious or something. I think Dynamatt you are right about the song, pretty straight forward I think.

"I can see my baby Waving from the train It was last time that I saw him In the summer rain"

    Pretty much the conclusion...

song of my life i agree with th1rte3n, thats pretty much it: guy goes to war and dies, but no matter what she's the only one she'll ever love - "Every night and every day now Though I know you've gone away Somewhere in my heart I'm always Dancing with you in the summer rain"

i've been away from her for nearly 18 months now. everytime i hear this song, it haunts me

I love this song from Belinda Carlisle. I was just a kid when the song came out, and now by looking at the lyrics and hearing it again after more than 20 years, I just can't stop listening to it.

Belinda Carlisle brings Betty White's Lost Valentine movie to life in this song, Summer Rain. She speaks of the love and bittersweet sadness of being a military wife/girlfriend who has to grasp the reality that she would be alone holding onto her memories when the train comes to get her love away from her. She describes the train as being a military train so he is definitely military and has to go away to do what he does, and she knows that she may or may not see him again. She clearly understands that nothing is guaranteed in the military. That is why she creates this almost nostalgic memories for her to hold onto when he's not there.

@madgaunbabe finally ! Yes! I was just about to write up this big long story but then seen you had already figured it out. Hes been deployed. Its the last time she saw him. So she always remembers dancing with him, in the summer rain! Beautiful song! Truly well written and sang beautifully

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
