To me this song talks about all the heartaches and breakups a single person goes through. We love the freedom and adventure but the good sometimes comes with the bad. Once that special person comes in our lives, life tends to be brighter and cheerful. Hence, "even the nights get better." We sleep more soundly knowing that our love given is equally returned.
