Resignation That is what this song is about. In the context of a pop song, Lady Gaga is resigning herself and therefore all women to the level of sex objects. This is not the end; people are more than that...women are people. R. Kelly's "character" within the song has no inkling of this thinking it is just a pop song like any other. Fuck it you think women are all just a bunch of tools--utilize us, but really we'll be utilizing you keeping our souls (for what they are worth) intact. This is a bleak song as far as the relations between the sexes is concerned. Men do believe that women are objects for sex, even the "nice guys"--you know who you are. Women, quite rightly, do believe--as men unthinkingly do--that they are more than just their bodies. This is a perfect pop song in that it is catchy, somewhat edgy (R. Kelly's even being a part of it, disgraced as he is), but that it has a somewhat complex subtext of transcending the corporeal body and its faith that their is something beyond that. "We lay in the cut like we don't give a fuuuuuuuuck!" Will send shivers down the spine of all but the most jaded of listeners, even if it is being sung by such an oblivious throwback as the one R. Kelly "plays" here.
