This entire song sounds like a denial. She repeats "I'm not the killing type" constantly like she's trying to convince herself. "I wouldn't kill to save a life" and "I wouldn't kill to win a war" shows that she wouldn't kill a fellow human being for all the regular reasons, but right after listing this she basically screams, "but, I would kill to make you feel!" Who? The "you" makes the whole song a bit ambiguous. She could be talking about how she's desperate to move her lover, to make them love her the way she loves them. Or she could be talking about her audience. Theatre, music...art in general sparks emotion in people..but sometimes when it doesn't, it loses its purpose. So this desperation she or any artist has for a reaction causes such an intense feeling it needs an outlet like murder..but again she's "not the killing type", her morals wouldn't allow it (like when she stepped on the bird), so she uses this song.
"I would kill to make you feel, but I couldn't do that it is wrong, but i can say it in a song"
@IdleButterfly I feel as though the "you" you refer to as the target to this murder is herself. She keeps repeating she couldn't kill other beings but she could bring herself to commit suicide just to spite someone and make them feel as though they have caused her to kill herself and which would make them feel extreme guilt and psychological trauma. I feel like this might be a thought process some suicidal young people have, something along the lines of "I'll show them how much they actually care about me" when maybe family members treat them extremely poorly or...
