I'm not sure if this is any where near right, but I've always thought of this song being about an unplanned pregnancy. Something that is out of their control

"we would take It slowly if only we could."

it's too late to take it slowly

"Is it right? Is it wrong? I don't know. It's not the cause I'm fighting for any more, but it sucks to keep on running."

It doesn't matter if what's happened is right or wrong any more, they have to face their situation head on.

"It wasn't our decision."

Thinking about whether they did the right thing is irrelevant because it wasn't something they decided. They might 'lose the fight' against those who think they've done wrong, but that's okay because it's not their fault and it's out of their control.

"Every man is happy until Happiness is suddenly a goal."

When a man has to think about raising a family he often starts thinking about wanting the best for them and wanting to be happy. This is the realisation that he was happy before and making happiness a goal is just over thinking and won't make him any happier.

"I'll just be here waiting till the Doctor calls and then I'll let you know."

This last fading line is really what made me rethink the song and interpret it in this way. It seems like a very clear link to the idea of an unplanned pregnancy. But maybe what we realise here is that they didn't even know if that is what has happened yet. They are still waiting for the doctor to call. So all of this conversation and emotions might have just been over thinking.

Whether I am on the right track or not I think this song brilliantly portrays the chaos of human emotions and the need to let go sometimes and stop thinking so deeply. The lyrics and music are genius and it was absolutely awesome played live as an encore :D
