I think this song is talking about what happens after a break-up; the thoughts each person has about each other and each of their emotions (the "man" in the song wants to get back together with the girl), particularly those of the person who was broken up with (the girl) .

"So what became of love in man and what became of you?"

She is wondering what happened to the other person in the relationship who broke up with her, why he changed and what happened to the version of him that loved her that she first met and what happened to the person she feel in love with.

"Familiar as you shook my hand what was it you meant to do?"

She notes that the beginning of their relationship was typical or "familiar" of the beginning of every romantic relationship, and asks "what was it you meant to do?" because she's wondering if he had other or different intentions from her and the relationship than she did from the start. She's wondering if he really ever wanted something meaningful out of being with her at all.

"Because all can change for one and all can change in this new day"

She realizes that his feelings toward her have changed (why he ended the relationship) "all can change for one" the one person being him. Her feelings towards him, however remain the same as they were in the beginning and throughout their relationship and she continues to love him.

"she said the devil will want you back"

She is angry because he ended the relationship and because she can't understand what happened at all between them. She's feeling like he used her and she's confused by the meaning of their relationship (note back to "what was it you meant to do?") the devil signifies bad/evil/wrong and she's saying "the devil will want you back" because like the devil, he is bad/evil/wrong, too (which is why the devil would want him)

"you'll never find love in an open hand shut your eyes so you'll see I'm there"

She's saying that he's never going to find the love that they had again or find love as easily as they did. He will never find anyone else who makes him feel the love he felt for her when they were together. Basically she's telling him that he lost the best thing that would ever happen to him (her) and he'll never find that in another girl. finding "love in an open hand" may also mean that she'd not going to go back to him if he ever tries to be with her again and all he has left of her are the memories they shared, which he sees when he is "shutting" his "eyes so you'll see I'm there" (see I'm there = see her)

"And know you'll always have this if you stay this man"

She's telling him that he will never have a chance to be with her again if he doesn't change his ways ("have this" = remaining broken up) "if you stay this man" is referring to the bad/evil/wrong that the man showed towards her in the break-up.

"And no, this was not for my pride I know this was my time"

The man (who broke up with the girl) adds that he wasn't breaking up with her because he needed an ego-boost, or just because he could/felt like it "this was not for my pride" he had an actual reason for ending it with her. When he broke up with her he knew the relationship wasn't working out (or wasn't working out for him) anymore and broke up with her when he knew "this was my time"

"So when nobody will take you back"

This change in the chorus lyrics near the end refer to the fact that he wants her back. He is realizing that his feelings for her never changed and wants to have another chance at a relationship with her. However, the "nobody" refers to her. She refuses to "take him back" until he changes into the man she first fell in love with.

Sorry, I know it's lengthy but this is my interpretation :)
