So what became of loving man
Oh what became of you
Familiar as you shook my hand
What was it you meant to do?
Because all could change for one
And all, can change in this new day

She said the devil will want you back
And you'll never find love in an open hand
Shut your eyes, so you see I'm there
And know you'll always have this if you see this man

She said the devil will want you back
And you'll never find love in an open hand
Shut your eyes, so you see I'm there
And know you'll always have this if you see this man

And no, this was not for my pride
I know this was my time

She said the devil will want you back
And you'll never find love in an open hand
Shut your eyes, so you see I'm there
And know you'll always have this if you see this man

So when nobody will take you back
And you'll never find love in an open hand
Shut your eyes, and you'll see I'm there
You know you'll always have this if you see this man

    My Interpretation

I'm probably wrong but I think it's talking about love not being an exchange that can be sealed through a "handshake".

I love when he says "and you'll never find love in an open hand." I personally don't think love just comes around. You have to work for love. That doesn't mean it should be a labour but you won't just find love in a open hands and shake hands and get it. It doesn't work like that.

    Just my thoughts :)

    My Opinion

I believe the last line of the chorus is actually:

"And know you'll always have this if you STAY this man"

She said the devil will want you back And you'll never find love in an open hand Shut your eyes, so you see I'm there And know you'll always have this if you stay this man

I feel like it's about a man who won't change "you'll always have this if you stay this man". If he doesn't change, he won't find love. Going on from toomuch610, you have to work at love and it doesn't just come with a simple handshake per se. The 'She' spoken about in the song is saying to him, why don't you close your eyes, you'll see I'm there for you, but you'll always have this heartache if you stay the man you are.

I dunno, that's just my take on it!

I think it means that you can't just take love or have it given to you- you have to work for it. Meaning not taking it for granted. If you simply just take, and take, and take- you're gonna lose that love. And if someone is just simply giving all of their love to you then it's a false love.

In the actual music video of this song, the main guy of the video takes care of his bowling ball(if that's what you wanna call it...eh), and in the end it returns his love by trying his hardest for his master. While the enemy team just throws his ball around and relies only on his own skill, only using his ball as a weapon and not believing in its own skills.

If you find love, then don't take it for granted.

    My Interpretation

I think this song is talking about what happens after a break-up; the thoughts each person has about each other and each of their emotions (the "man" in the song wants to get back together with the girl), particularly those of the person who was broken up with (the girl) .

"So what became of love in man and what became of you?"

She is wondering what happened to the other person in the relationship who broke up with her, why he changed and what happened to the version of him that loved her that she first met and what happened to the person she feel in love with.

"Familiar as you shook my hand what was it you meant to do?"

She notes that the beginning of their relationship was typical or "familiar" of the beginning of every romantic relationship, and asks "what was it you meant to do?" because she's wondering if he had other or different intentions from her and the relationship than she did from the start. She's wondering if he really ever wanted something meaningful out of being with her at all.

"Because all can change for one and all can change in this new day"

She realizes that his feelings toward her have changed (why he ended the relationship) "all can change for one" the one person being him. Her feelings towards him, however remain the same as they were in the beginning and throughout their relationship and she continues to love him.

"she said the devil will want you back"

She is angry because he ended the relationship and because she can't understand what happened at all between them. She's feeling like he used her and she's confused by the meaning of their relationship (note back to "what was it you meant to do?") the devil signifies bad/evil/wrong and she's saying "the devil will want you back" because like the devil, he is bad/evil/wrong, too (which is why the devil would want him)

"you'll never find love in an open hand shut your eyes so you'll see I'm there"

She's saying that he's never going to find the love that they had again or find love as easily as they did. He will never find anyone else who makes him feel the love he felt for her when they were together. Basically she's telling him that he lost the best thing that would ever happen to him (her) and he'll never find that in another girl. finding "love in an open hand" may also mean that she'd not going to go back to him if he ever tries to be with her again and all he has left of her are the memories they shared, which he sees when he is "shutting" his "eyes so you'll see I'm there" (see I'm there = see her)

"And know you'll always have this if you stay this man"

She's telling him that he will never have a chance to be with her again if he doesn't change his ways ("have this" = remaining broken up) "if you stay this man" is referring to the bad/evil/wrong that the man showed towards her in the break-up.

"And no, this was not for my pride I know this was my time"

The man (who broke up with the girl) adds that he wasn't breaking up with her because he needed an ego-boost, or just because he could/felt like it "this was not for my pride" he had an actual reason for ending it with her. When he broke up with her he knew the relationship wasn't working out (or wasn't working out for him) anymore and broke up with her when he knew "this was my time"

"So when nobody will take you back"

This change in the chorus lyrics near the end refer to the fact that he wants her back. He is realizing that his feelings for her never changed and wants to have another chance at a relationship with her. However, the "nobody" refers to her. She refuses to "take him back" until he changes into the man she first fell in love with.

Sorry, I know it's lengthy but this is my interpretation :)

    My Interpretation

I do really think this song is about cherishing (?) love, about who's around you, a remember that they are there and that we shouldn't push them away. This is like a story of a man who went (and is goinf through) in a rough time and the 'she' in it is the one who is around him and wants to help but he doesn't see it. So:

[So what became of loving man? Oh what became of you?] In this we can see that he changed, he's not the same, where is that loving man that he was?

[Familiar as you shook my hand] But although he changed, certain parts of him are the same, of course, they haven't changed and one of them is his handshake, it is familiar to her.

[What was it you meant to do?] This question is made because she wonders what he was trying to do with him, with is life that made him like this, made him change, put him in bad times because she can't really understand.

[Because all could change for one And all, could change in this new day] About this part I don't really know what to think. Maybe by saying that all could change for one she is saying that he could change, get better for her if he loves her. And the 'all could change in this new day' is a hope message from her saying that he can turn things around, it just depends on him.

[She said the devil will want you back] Here she's saying that this won't be neither the first nor the last time he will pass throught rough times, the devil will 'seek' him again 'cause well, this is life. [And you'll never find love in an open hand] This is pretty clear: love is not easy to find, to find a person who loves you... [Shut your eyes, so you see I'm there] ...and so you've got to cheer it, you've got to look around and see who's there and there will be someone just waiting and trying to help you. [And know you'll always have this if you stay this man] I think that by 'this man' she means that guy, that guy which the handshake was familiar to her. If he stay that man or at least doesntt completly lose himself, he will have her and her help and will have her around 'cause she loves him.

[I lied, this was not for my pride I know this was my time] I don't know about this, I have no idea, but it can be him saying that he didn't see her there because of his pride, because he didn't want her to see him like that or because we didn't want to admit he was shit but because he knew it was 'his time' and that he could not be 'saved'.

And thats pretty much this my interpretation. Sorry if there's any mistake, i'm not an english native.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
