I think the song is about falling in love, and the rollercoaster of emotions that comes with it, one minute your happy/joyful and excited...whereas in the next you can feel really insecure/down and almost hurt. When the person dosen´t seem to respond.

I always thought he cleverly wrote Elodie/ instead of Melody. But that´s just personal speculation...this is one of my fave songs of the entire album..which is so fantastic!
