This song has special meaning to me. Almost 5 years ago, my cousin committed suicide. Her name was Amy. Today would have been her 24th birthday. On her birthday two years ago, I was thinking about her and just generally having a down day. I was the age then that she was when she died, and I was having my own struggle with suicidal thoughts and that sort of thing.
Anyway, that day I went Walmart and randomly started looking at CDs. I saw Flyleaf's Remember To Live and got really excited because I had been waiting for new music from them for a long time. So I picked it up and looked at the tracks, and when I saw "Amy Says," I was completely shocked because of the significance of that day and the fact that Amy had already been on my mind. I knew I had to get the CD, and as soon as I got in my car I put it in. I listened to the song and it totally blew me away. I felt like it was God or her speaking to me from heaven and telling me it was okay and that she was okay. I had been struggling with her death for such a long time, and it gave me an amazing feeling of peace.
That's my story. It doesn't have much to do with the lyrics, except to say that they were exactly what I needed to hear and gave me hope for myself and peace for Amy. I can't believe that it was all a coincidence, it was just too mindblowingly perfect.
@laurelise it was no coincidence... And nice to meet you I am Amy. I am here because I found god in my heart. Your Amy is in heaven because all soldiers go to heaven even if the war was in her head. She is with god waiting for you when you have lived your life and it's your time. Stay right with god and you will meet her again. Even tho you don't know me I'm sorry for your loss your story touched my heart and I sheded a few tears not gonna lie. Take care.. .. from Amy lou
