Amy says she's all alone
Says the world doesn't even know
About the pain she hides inside
Says happiness is just a lie
Smell the roses throw them down
Just whisper, don't make a sound
Don't want the world to know the truth
You've been broken and abused, by you

And Amy says
I see YOU laughing at the rain that hits your face
With your arms stretched open soaking in the love
In a world I find so hard YOU find so beautiful
There's a hope in you deep inside for me

The colors of her mind
Bleed into each other
And as the morning melts the night
And the stars enchant another
While her eyes are still held shut
She can hear you breathing softly
Your words echo in her mind
And your words are clear
And she knows that you are here
You are here

I see her laughing at the rain that hits her face
With her arms stretched open soaking in the love
In a world she found so hard she finds so beautiful
There's a hope in her deep inside from you

I see her laughing at the rain that hits her face
With her arms stretched open soaking in the love
In a world she found so hard she finds so beautiful
There's a hope in her deep inside from you

    Memory

This song has special meaning to me. Almost 5 years ago, my cousin committed suicide. Her name was Amy. Today would have been her 24th birthday. On her birthday two years ago, I was thinking about her and just generally having a down day. I was the age then that she was when she died, and I was having my own struggle with suicidal thoughts and that sort of thing.

Anyway, that day I went Walmart and randomly started looking at CDs. I saw Flyleaf's Remember To Live and got really excited because I had been waiting for new music from them for a long time. So I picked it up and looked at the tracks, and when I saw "Amy Says," I was completely shocked because of the significance of that day and the fact that Amy had already been on my mind. I knew I had to get the CD, and as soon as I got in my car I put it in. I listened to the song and it totally blew me away. I felt like it was God or her speaking to me from heaven and telling me it was okay and that she was okay. I had been struggling with her death for such a long time, and it gave me an amazing feeling of peace.

That's my story. It doesn't have much to do with the lyrics, except to say that they were exactly what I needed to hear and gave me hope for myself and peace for Amy. I can't believe that it was all a coincidence, it was just too mindblowingly perfect.

this song is extremely beautiful and i wish it was on their latest CD. it's about a girl who thinks she's lost in the world and then finds god, who turns her life around. it's amazing

First of all, I don't think its about God. This song is very beautiful. One of the best songs I know that's sort of about hope and believing in each other. Pretty self explanatory, but here's what I'm pretty sure its about: this girl named Amy is feeling sad and angry, and she can't find the beauty in anything as she watches other people do. Then a friend or someone talks to her and gives her advice, and she eventually she changes and sees all the love and beauty. I think the song is just saying that we can help other people, we can see love and beauty and appreciate this world. Not my usual type of song(I prefer red stars, video kid, happy birthday, and holiday by the birthday massacre) but I really like this song.

This song means so much to me. "Amy says" is such a symbolic song about how a negative girl turns her life around and looks past the hurt she has in her heart.

Amy says she's all alone Says the world doesn't even know About the pain she hides inside Says happiness is just a lie **This first part is like we get to know a little more about Amy. This girl, Amy thinks the world is turned against her and that nobody realises that's she is hurting and sad .She wants people to realize she is sad but keeps watever is bothering her deep inside. She doesn't believe in happiness and that scares her and makes her feel she's alone.

Smell the roses, throw them down Just whisper, don't make a sound Don't want the world to know the truth You've been broken and abused...by you **A simple thing like roses doesn't even make her happy or makes her smile. She's stuck with this negative part of her life stareing her in the face. She only whispers meaning doesn't tell anybody she's this sad. So she keeps it to herself, she just whispers her pain to herself. But actually the pain she has inside is all because of herself. She is beating and hurting herself emotionally. She's tearing herself down and just maybe she's physically hurting herself but it's mostly to do with emotion. She's bullying herself.

And Amy says "I see you laughing at the rain that hits your face With your arms stretched open soaking in the love In a world I find so hard you find so beautiful There's a hope in you deep inside for me." **The chorus is so beautiful. She's talking to one of her friends likely Lacey about how she laughs at rain falling on her. And Amy can't understand this because it makes her happy. She can't understand how a useless and silly thing like that could make her laugh. When she talks about her arms wide open it refers to God loving us unconditionally. Her friend is just letting God in to love her and to be her God and her father. Its like sort of a metaphor like her clothes soaking up the rain she soaks up God's love. Amy can't understand how her friend finds the same world she finds so tragic her friend finds wonderful and magical. And Amy realizes that there could be hope inside God only.

The colors of her mind Bleed into each other And as the morning melts the night And the stars enchant another **This part is just a part indicating a phase in her life. "The colors of her mind bleed into each other" means that she starts to think about this whole God story. Like she really starts to think could this change her life. Again the morning into night she's thinking about this for a long time. Till night time she's thinking about it.

While her eyes are still held shut She can hear you breathing softly Your words echo in her mind And your words are clear And she knows that you are here You are here "While her eyes are still held shut" means she is still closed to the idea of God she still doesn't really believe or want to believe. "She can hear you breathing softly" means that Amy is starting to feel God in her life not a lot just a bit. And then she starts to go over the things she's feeling inside over and over again and finally she admits that God is near.

I see her laughing at the rain that hits her face With her arms stretched open soaking in the love In a world she found so hard she finds so beautiful There's a hope in her deep inside from you **Then her whole life is turned around. She starts to she the beauty of pure raw life and just to enjoy it and to love what she has and she opens her heart to God to receive the love he has to offer her. The world she found so diffucult to live in she finds beautiful. There's now a hope in her beacause of God.

And that is what the song means to me.<3

Where can I find some of these songs that aren't on their cd, is there an independent release or downloads somewhere, or are these just live songs only? I don't think the "about God" comment was meant to be negative,

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Cajun Girl

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
