The two people above are idiots. This is not based on any war story.

It's clearly a domestic situation: "All the children are tucked in their beds" and the chorus suggests there is meant to be mutual love between the people arguing: "I love you and you love me And that's the way it's got to be I loved you from the start 'Cause Christmas ain't the time for breaking each other's heart"

Looking at the broader context of things, the Ramones rarely wrote about broader world situations (exceptions would be Bonzo goes to Bitburg) but wrote about their own personal situations and environments.

@elwyn5150 No I don't agree. We have different views and different experiences and a song can mean whatever the person deems it to mean. How can you generalize this? Everyone is not stupid for their interpretations either.
