Pretty straightforward song. He doesn't believe in god and it's a criticism of religion in general. Killing and hating in the name of their gods, living a life in submission to an imaginary deity. Awesome song, between the lyrics and the instrumental behind it. Great delivery.

I don't think it is a straightforward criticism of religion, remember Parway Drive travelled the world before they wrote this song and went to third world countries were superstituin rules (Superstituin rules in the land of the weak).

"Power withheld" is obviously a link to religion and how governments/authorities have distorted religion to control the population (like the hindu religion, they have a caste system which has been connected to their religion, which is a barrier to them as lower caste individuals have nearly no rights in their religion and the lower caste is about 95% of the population)...

You're right, of course. But religious people always refuse to believe that anyone could be irreligious. Atheists, they claim, "hate God" (which of course implies that they actually do believe in God). I seriously believe that an artist could write a song that said:

Fuck your God Fuck your religion It's all bullshit None of it is true

And then conduct 100 interviews plainly explaining that the song is a refutation of religion, and STILL religious people would claim that the song is about how great God is.

My Opinion

@RoleMartyrX I agree with what you guys are saying, but I also think that the song is about lack of understanding of other religions "Hostility, breeds within the void Left by the loss of understanding Hatred, the true face of ignorance"

People are afraid of things (religions and sometimes ethnicities) that they don't know about. A common example of this is islamiphobia. People don't know about a religion and therefore discriminate against and spread hate and fear about an entire group of people based on extremes.
