Hey Ladies Lyrics

Hey Ladies was released as a single just before Paul's Boutique was available. I remember running as fast as I could from the school bus to see this video on Yo! Mtv Raps with Doctor Dre (not to be confused with Dr. Dre from the west coast) & Ed Lover. I was quite confused. Hey Ladies sounded nothing like Licensed To Ill. Of course I wasn't expecting another Licensed To Ill because Hip Hop had progressed a lot in 2-3 years since. But Hey Ladies didn't sound like ANYTHING I had ever heard. To this day, there isn't much that even comes close. And most of the stuff that does is by the Beasties! I didn't understand Hey Ladies at the time but I bought Paul's Boutique anyway. It probably took 6 months to a year for me to really start to "get it." Hey Ladies is one of the best songs from my favorite album.

I think it's "Vincent Van Gogh cold mailed that ear," not, "Vincent Van Gogh and mail that ear." It's old slang from the 80's. "To cold do something." Kinda like "stone cold." To do something unexpected suddenly. For example: "He cold knocked that motherfucker out!"

Lyric Correction

@kanoe13 I can see your point about "cold mailed that ear," but, "Vincent Van go and mail that ear" works as wordplay (the verb "go" instead of "Gogh," but they sound the same) that the Beasties love to do.

@kanoe13 think urban pronunciation of the word "cold." Sounds more like "co."
