I see this song as a guy/girl looking at a certain someone who they're just inevitably falling for, seeing as they 'never left' them whilst they've been trying to get through some shit. Now they're falling in love and its better than before, suggesting they've already been in and come out of a relationships (which perhaps hasn't ended so well) so this is truly something special which makes them 'smile when you speak' so 'together and forever' it is!
