I agree with arxx but I think that Evelyn is actually a woman who passed away and losing her is causing him to debate his religion, the verses Barney sings are the part of him that wants to reject religion, while the clean vocals in the chorus is the guy hoping she is actually in a better place
@Onslaughter I’d listened to some of Volbeats more mainstream songs before but I had never really listened to Evelyn. Until my daughter, who’s name was Evelyn, passed away. Evelyn’s older sister and I started listening to it one day just cause the title was her name. I completely agree with your thoughts on it bro.
