I've thought long and hard about this song, especially after reading that Tetsuya felt this song had more to do with KH than Simple and Clean(And I agree, I honestly can't make a strong connection to the game with that song) did.
I realize many people see this song as Sora's side, and backwards as Riku's side, which definitely makes a lot of sense. But I actually interpret this song from Roxas's POV(I don't have an explanation for the song backwards, though).
It references how Sora is Roxas's "sanctuary." Think about it, Roxas lived in so much confusion. His existence was wrapped up in lies, secrets, and unanswered questions. Once he joins up with Sora, he'll become "whole" again(In you and I there's a new land) and all those insecurities will disappear(In sanctuary, my sanctuary, yeah / Where fears and lies melt away). Remember the clock tower scene with Axel in KH2 Final Mix? Roxas decided to place all of his trust in Sora.

Anyone with me on this?
