In you and I there's a new land,
Angels in flight
wonk uoy naht noitceffa erom deen I
In sanctuary, my sanctuary, yeah
Where fears and lies melt away
Music in time
Wonk uoy naht noitceffa erom deen I
What's left of me
What's left of me now

I watch you fast asleep,
All I fear means nothing

In you and I there's a new land,
Angels in flight
wonk uoy naht noitceffa erom deen I
In sanctuary, my sanctuary, yeah
Where fears and lies melt away
Music in time
wonk uoy naht noitceffa erom deen I
What's left of me
What's left of me

snwod dna spu ynam os
My heart's a battleground
snoitome eurt deen I
wonk uoy naht noitceffa erom deen I
snoitome eurt deen I

You show me how to see,
That nothing is whole and nothing is broken,

In you and I there's a new land
Angels in flight
wonk uoy naht noitceffa erom deen I
In sanctuary, my sanctuary, yeah

Where fears and lies melt away
Music in time
wonk uoy naht noitceffa erom deen I
What's left of me
What's left of me now

My fears, my lies
Melt away...
wonk uoy naht noitceffa erom deen I

    My InterpretationMy interpretation:

I've thought long and hard about this song, especially after reading that Tetsuya felt this song had more to do with KH than Simple and Clean(And I agree, I honestly can't make a strong connection to the game with that song) did.

I realize many people see this song as Sora's side, and backwards as Riku's side, which definitely makes a lot of sense. But I actually interpret this song from Roxas's POV(I don't have an explanation for the song backwards, though).

It references how Sora is Roxas's "sanctuary." Think about it, Roxas lived in so much confusion. His existence was wrapped up in lies, secrets, and unanswered questions. Once he joins up with Sora, he'll become "whole" again(In you and I there's a new land) and all those insecurities will disappear(In sanctuary, my sanctuary, yeah / Where fears and lies melt away). Remember the clock tower scene with Axel in KH2 Final Mix? Roxas decided to place all of his trust in Sora.

    Anyone with me on this?

General CommentThis song fits the game perfectly, better than Passion IMO (in contrast to Simple and Clean, which had nothing to do with anything XD). For example, "I watch you, fast asleep/ All I fear means nothing" sounds like Riku's trials while Sora was comatose in the White Room.

General CommentWhy is it that everyone goes on about how great it is when all that I really want to know is what the song is about!

General CommentI feel like this song is from Riku's perspective.

Riku has difficulty being open so the backwards parts (I need more affection than you know) are things that he can't say. With "a new land" I take it as a fresh start of sorts. Riku has made a lot of really heavy mistakes, but his friends hold it against him. His "fears and lies melt away" because he's been forgiven. A sanctuary is a place of safety. Riku is safe with his friends.

    "I watch you fast asleep"
This line refers to Sora sleeping for a year.
    "All I fear means nothing"
Riku has been dealing with the fear of his own darkness, but that has to be put on hold. Right now, the only thing that matters is making sure Sora is okay.

The backwards lines refer to Riku's own emotional state. He's dealing with a lot of guilt and loneliness. "My heart's a battleground" could be referring to his battle with Ansem.

"You show me how to see/That nothing is whole and nothing is broken"
When Riku finally meets up with Sora and Kairi again, he's so ashamed at himself but they accept him wholeheartedly. I feel like this line is Riku understanding that world isn't black or white, or whole or broken. You can make mistakes and still be loved.

Basically Riku's character development is beautiful and I think this song portrays it perfectly.

General CommentI absolutely love this song. I'm still not sure if I like it over Simple and Clean yet. I like both equally still.
I believe there's instances in this song when she sings the lyrics are backwards? It's what it sounds like to me anyway.

General CommentYEAH. it does sound like they play instances..first i thought she was just singing in a different language but that sounds more reasonable.

General CommentFrom Wikipedia, the main backwards lyric is "I need more affection than you know". In the middle of the song, one also hears ""So many ups and downs" and "I need true emotion".

This song extremely addictive. It seems to link to the Kingdom Hearts storyline, but even if one doesn't know the plot, the song still rocks.

General CommentDamn... This song is so freaking good. First time I heard it, I couldn't believe it. Then I got to download it and I was constantly play the song. I probably listened to the song more than 100 times in the first 5 days. I was/am hooked. I really enjoy the ending version though. Just the piano base gives it a little more. But when I hear this song, all I can think about if the person I love and how they bring me to paradise(Santuary). They make me forget about everything and just bring me total happiness.
And yeah, there are backward lyrics in this song. I don't know why the person who wrote it didn't include them. I kinda think it was poorly recorded.

Wonk uoy naht noitceffa erom deen I(I need more affection than you know)
snwod dna spu ynam os(So many ups and downs)
snoitonme eurt deen I(I need true emotion)

Incredible song and I can't get enough.
