Not a big M.E. fan, but her voice is perfect for this track and I've loved it since first hearing it 1.5 years ago. She can't be with the person she loves for whatever reason, so all she can do is take comfort with the peace sleeping will bring. Before she finds her peace through dreams, she says goodnight to him/her as though the person was beside her. What should be a sad song comes off more of a love song. I really do love this song by Etheridge.
Regardless of the lyrics, I've always loved listening to this song before I go to bed (when my favorite piano player is unavailable:). It's just one of those songs that makes me feel like wearing comfortable flannel pj's; taking a good book to bed; then slowing drifting off as the moonlight shines through the window...and waking the next morning wondering if I rolled over on my glasses ;) GOOD song.

Still love it. It's comforting....and very fitting when it's time to curl up with the snoring, squeaking soft feline for the night.
