The melancholy vibe of this song really hits me hard, but I'll leave out personal opinion to get to the point :P
To me, this song is about a relationship that burns bright, hot, and short. However, the feelings remain forever.
"-WE- will live longer than -I- will"
is saying that, even though she (and, presumably, he) will eventually fall out of the relationship, their new found connection will never be lost. Most songs like this are about heartache when having to see the person again, but not this one. Even though the music is sad, slow, and reflective, her tone and word choice indicate that this is perfectly fine. They knew this would happen and, because of this relationship, they are able to still remain close after the break up.
Parts such as "so tired of waiting" and "dance while you're waiting" are just metaphors for how both people are aware of the dynamic of their relationship. Unwilling to wait for things to die off, they are going to make the most of it and enjoy the relationship as a joyous event.
