Hazel rocks they need more songs on here, thanks for posting this. I think you are really close on the lyrics.
I have always heard "And everywhere the comets there" but the more I listen to it the more I question what Jody is saying.
I also hear Pete say "And the comets that we see are the limit to everything" that sounds right on to me.
I have always assumed A, E, C, F, A, E, C, F, A, E, C, F, A, E, C, F were the chords that he was playing but I am not a musician and I have no idea what the chords are.
As for the meaning of the song I think Comet like most Hazel songs is pretty ambiguous. The comets seem to be symbolic of something, maybe a bad relationship. I get that vibe from..
"Must have been a perfect disaster
Perfect
And it seemed so effortless, remember?
Like that time you told me, oh man you told me
That the stars came down for just you and me"
and
"I can feel the, uh--the weight of your shoulders on mine
With all the world and time and everything
But I'll lay low 'til you say so"
The only way to find out the meaning of any song is to ask the artist but I hope to see how others interpret this song.
