To me, this song is about a girl who feels all messed up. She's not stable emotionally or mentally. She's insecure, has mood swings, anxieties- and she's in love. She's afraid that it won't work because she's complicated and difficult to deal with. The boy in her life keeps her stable (she's on his "back" and things are easier) but he seems to think he can -fix- her. She wants to be able to do cope on her own, though.
I think I agree..... it's like she really wants to be with him and make it work but she's apprehensive to show him all of her because she realizes her flaws, 1 being that she is seeking her career and still wants to experience more and that requires her leaving (don't want to miss my prime)...... as he begs for her to stay, but she feels like she's almost there. But staying in love is the hard part that many people now and days do not seem to think is worth fighting for. Too many divorces now and days. It's sad. Love is an action and a choice, it takes work.
