This was one of my favorite AFI songs growing up, and now that I really look at it I can see it as being more open to interpretation than just a SxE song, it could even be the opposite. Most Straight-edgers will never really understand that though. "I won't be sedated" doesn't mean I won't be on drugs because a lot of drugs do the exact opposite (stimulants), and everything else is very open and only about not conforming or feeling ashamed of how you felt before. SxEers feel like they're not conforming by using drugs, drug users feel they're not conforming because they use drugs which isn't the norm. SxEers may feel ashamed for past drug use or thinking drugs might have been cool at some point and be ashamed of this now that their views have been changed, drug users may feel ashamed they used to put others down for drug use before they tried or understood it. But it could also be thought of a relationship or anything really, so maybe the title does really suit it.
