i'm pretty sure "russia on ice" is a metaphor for vodka. but "burning a hole" is more complex... i'm not sure if he's telling about how he's empty inside, and when he "fills himself" with vodka it's just like burning the hole, the emptiness he feels inside.... the other thought is more tragic.... perhaps drinking vodka will give him the courage to kill himself, like using a gun..... and "burning a hole" in his head.... i don't know... the music is great, but is also very depressive.
