Send Me An Angel Lyrics

I saw Scorpions + Ratt this summer on their Get Your Sting and Blackout tour (Nashville, great show). It was not too long after Dio passed (may he rest in peace) and they played a beautiful acoustic version of this song dedicated to Dio. I was struck by how what this song says is also what Dio said in a lot of his songs and stood for himself.

I also agree with the biblical interpretations given. Land of the Morning Star, if Morning Star is indeed to be read as Lucifer, would definitely refer to the Earth. "Here I am, send me an angel. Here I am, on Earth, where I face the devil." The 1 Thess. scripture is a great way to look at the line about roses. Find peace, find your niche, but test everything in search of what is good (the rose itself as opposed to the thorns).

Then, the last verse, about reaching out for the spell, sounds to me like classic Dio. Believing in yourself and following your heart so you can grab the spell and make it to the promised land? Come on, obvious Dio reference.
