Wise man said just walk this way
To the dawn of the light
The wind will blow into your face
As the years pass you by
Hear this voice from deep inside
It's the call of your heart
Close your eyes and you will find
Passage out of the dark

Here I am (Here I am)
Will you send me an angel
Here I am (Here I am)
In the land of the morning star

The wise man said just find your place
In the eye of the storm
Seek the roses along the way
Just beware of the thorns

Here I am (Here I am)
Will you send me an angel
Here I am (Here I am)
In the land of the morning star

Wise man said just raise your hand
And reach out for the spell
Find the door to the promised land
Just believe in yourself
Hear this voice from deep inside
It's the call of your heart
Close your eyes and you will find
The way out of the dark

Here I am (Here I am)
Will you send me an angel
Here I am (Here I am)
In the land of the morning star
Here I am (Here I am)
Will you send me an angel
Here I am (Here I am)
In the land of the morning star (Here I am)
Will you send me an angel
Here I am (Here I am)
In the land of the morning star
Here I am (Here I am)
Will you send me an angel
Here I am (Here I am)
In the land of the morning star

    My Interpretation

This song has a very COSMIC feeling to it. "The morning star" is the known as the planet Venus, and Venus is the planet of love, so the land of the morning star is "the calling deep within your heart", where your love resides, it is the way out of the dark, and into the light, into the dreams of your heart - "your promised land". "Wise man" is the place of wisdom that resides within you, that "as the years pass you by" you finally realize "love" is answer, it is the "dawn" of your true life, and "here I am" ready to receive my angel, my angel who is the promise of love and hope, and the angel of who I truly am inside...

(on a side note the Scropions, may have been influence by Astrology, hence Scorpio, and the Morning Star aka Venus, which is the ruling planet of Taurus, and just so happens to be the polar opposite astrological sign of Scorpio, hmm)

But anyhow... an absolutely beautiful song...

I have to point out that Japan is known as the land of the rising sun and Russia is known as the land of the morning star it is possible that the song was written while the Scorpions were touring or visiting there? This has also been covered by an artist called sleepthief was scanning through myspace and came across this site. It was a great song to start with and the cover version is just as good in my eyes. profile.myspace.com/index.cfm Well worth a listen.

I saw Scorpions + Ratt this summer on their Get Your Sting and Blackout tour (Nashville, great show). It was not too long after Dio passed (may he rest in peace) and they played a beautiful acoustic version of this song dedicated to Dio. I was struck by how what this song says is also what Dio said in a lot of his songs and stood for himself.

I also agree with the biblical interpretations given. Land of the Morning Star, if Morning Star is indeed to be read as Lucifer, would definitely refer to the Earth. "Here I am, send me an angel. Here I am, on Earth, where I face the devil." The 1 Thess. scripture is a great way to look at the line about roses. Find peace, find your niche, but test everything in search of what is good (the rose itself as opposed to the thorns).

Then, the last verse, about reaching out for the spell, sounds to me like classic Dio. Believing in yourself and following your heart so you can grab the spell and make it to the promised land? Come on, obvious Dio reference.

As far as I know, in Scripture, only Jesus is referred to as the "morning star." Lucifer is the "star that fell from heaven." Of course, those who have only seen the movie Dogma as opposed to reading the actual Bible would say that Lucifer is the morning star, but no, it's not in the Scriptures. Lucifer is not the morning star.

Life is a hard road but if you keep an open heart and positive attitude you will find an angel in "your promised land." Life is very hard sometimes with the wind constantly blowing in your face but believe in yourself and a higher power and your dark days all be over. The thorns of the rose will hurt but it will be an experience that will make you mentally tougher and will be a lesson in love. A prayer for love and peace. Such a musically subtle and understated song from a hard rock band of this era. One of my favorite power ballads.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
