First off this song is as haunting as they come, sure genius on the part of Interpol. I have no idea what the song means and what the intent is here. But for me, the line "I will surprise sometimes", reminds me of my realtionship with my ex-girlfriend, we had some rough periods, but sometimes a good little act of love suprised her, that is what I take away from it anyway.
