Like so many songs it can mean what you need or want it to mean.
For me it is about someone I have fallen for but she is already taken. I believe she has similar feelings for me, but she is a good person and won't turn from her love. So I am in a quandary. Should I go away from her and be alone or stay, which will mean waiting on my own without her. I believe if I stay around she might stumble and come closer..which is what I want.
Don't know if that's what the song is really about.. but it works for me.
