I believe
You might stumble and come closer

I like to wake alone
To lie and turn to stone
Comfort me, come to me
I won't go on

I like to walk along
To keep my head screwed on
Well I'm the best, so well done me
I won't go on

Believing, believing
I believe
You might stumble and come closer now

If I stay then I'm alone
If I go then it will mean
Waiting on my own
It's the pattern of my life
When you care and you cannot feel
And you know that it's for real
You just leave me on my own
To live the pattern of my life

I believe
You might stumble and come closer now

Make time to be
All this and more for me
Well you're the best so well done you
I won't go on

Believing, believing
I believe
You might turn from your love, wait around

If I go then I'm alone
If I stay then it will mean
Waiting on my own
It's the pattern of my life
When you care and you cannot feel
When you know that it's for real
So you leave me on my own
To live the pattern of my life

I believe
You might turn from your love wait around

If I stay here I'm alone
If I go then it will mean
Waiting on my own
It's the pattern of my life
When you care and you cannot feel
When you know that it's for real
You just leave me on my own
To live the pattern of my life

If I stay then I'm alone
If I go then it will mean
Waiting on my own
It's the pattern of my life
When you care and you cannot feel
And you know that it's for real
So you leave me on my own
To live the pattern of my life

Woah,
I believe
You might stumble and come closer now

Ohhhh, this song... good stuff. I think it's about loving someone from a far. He is confused and frustrated...

I won't go on Believing, believing I believe You might stumble and come closer now

Basically, he's hanging onto this little hope that the person he loves might just stumble (break up with her current boyfriend) and suddenly... fall in love with him. "I believe you might turn from your love."

"If I stay here I'm alone If I go then it will mean Waiting on my own It's the pattern of my life When you care and you cannot feel When you know that it's for real You just leave me on my own To live the pattern of my life"

The girl knows how he feels and still does not go with him... she knows his love is real but she can't feel it. Very sad song, but lovely... exactly why I love Keane.

My favorite verses of this song is:

"when you care and you cannot feel and you know that it's for real so you leave me on my own to live the pattern of my life"

Personally, I think that he is saying that the person (whoever he's talking about) cares about him, but cannot feel it at an emotional level for some reason (it could be due to depression for example), there's a lack of feeling, some kind of numbness that makes the person choose not to be with him, even though she/he cares. So he's left alone to "live the pattern of my life". I identify myself a lot with this part, because lately (years) even though I may care about someone, I cannot feel, so I can't even handle the energy that it takes to talk with this person, so I just avoid... which can leave this person sad.

yay i got the first post! this song probably means that he likes to be on his own just to kind of sort his life out, and likes to be alone, its calming and the girl might understand that thats how he has his way so she lives him on his own to lead the pattern of his life. It's a very nice way of talking about couples in a way. it's about understanding each other and doing the right thing to make each other happy. But closer now, doesnt mean going on his own all the time, there will be times when you need to be with your lover so if he or she needs him or her then they will be together. It's quite romantic but just singing it in a different way.

    My Interpretation

Like so many songs it can mean what you need or want it to mean.

For me it is about someone I have fallen for but she is already taken. I believe she has similar feelings for me, but she is a good person and won't turn from her love. So I am in a quandary. Should I go away from her and be alone or stay, which will mean waiting on my own without her. I believe if I stay around she might stumble and come closer..which is what I want.

Don't know if that's what the song is really about.. but it works for me.

    My Interpretation

Sorry for my English, I do not speak very well!

Anyway, I translated this song, and I believe, he describes that he loves a person who lives a life of lies, possibly because, to be with him, but not this.

It is ironic to say that like waking up alone and lying to turn a stone, that's not what he wants, he does not want to wake up alone and do not become a bitter person "stone", because then he kind of says it wants this person to comfort him.

That is, he loves someone and really want this person simply appears in his life. But the person already living another life.

Honestly whenever I listen Keane, I identify with the lyrics! This song is beautiful and adorable ... and looks like my life story!

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
