The Diary of Jane Lyrics

I think this song is about someone who becomes obsessed with another person who is either not aware or not available in any sense. And the obsessed person goes through extraordinary pain and frustration because of this obsession.

It's typical for an obsessed person to rationalize why their dream can't come to fruition, "Something's getting in the way, something's just about to break" are things obsessed people tell themselves to keep the fantasy going. You don't see the obvious red flags telling you things are not as you think they are, instead you "look the other way" and tend to deny any reality that threatens your obsession (burn another page).

Interestingly enough, there is a website janedoe.org that deals with crime of stalking, why it's dangerous behavior and what you can do about it.

Of course they never really do get closer to the object of their desire because subconsciously they can't. The person they think they see isn't real but wears the form of their fantasy. Confronting reality would destroy the fantasy and the obsessed person can't generally handle that. That's why some stalkers end up killing their victims.

I never killed anyone but I know what it's like to be obsessed and how it consumed my life. Whenever you try to find your identity in another human being you run this risk. You think you would do anything or be anything to have that person's affection but you don't know the real person. You are "in love" with someone you made up and gave their face to a very real person who is probably nothing like your dream. One of the hardest things in the world to face is the realization that you spent so much time, energy, tears, agony over someone who was never real in the first place.

My Opinion

@Shadras9 that happened to me recently- someone who i was "in love" with, the obsession consumed me and i may have lost my best friend because of it and now the person i was obsessed with makes me sick.

it's all just infatuation and fake
