I've seen for me that this is a man looking back at his boyhood schooldays, where he was bullied/tormented by this evil little girl. She took his heart and throwed it in a fire. People saw it, but no one did something because her mother runned the school.
Even if it's years ago, he still has not emotionally recovered. He is still relives the humilitation, he still is marked. He can't belive the torment is over, because of the damage it has done to him. Who is he to be here now?
