This is one of the most thinly veiled songs about herion I've ever heard in my life.

Chrissie Hynde watched most of her friends die of heroin overdoses. It's not about heroin. Losers on the internet think everything is about heroin (Tiny Dancer?!?!), when, really, rock stars often have regular lives, too.

@bobcatclay I don't think this song is about heroin, I think the expression "in my veins" is just another way of say in my blood. I've read where people think the Velvet Underground's song "Sweet Jane" is about heroin, it's not, it's about sweet Jane, the VU song "Heroin" is about heroin( Lou Reed is very subtle that way).

@bobcatclay Chrissie adamantly rails against drug use still today, ESPECIALLY HEROIN which took the life of her best friend and cowriter, Jim Honeyman-Scott, and also her bass player. Drug use is a huge turnoff for her and always has been.
