okay first..I can see how people relate it to being on tour and being away from his wife. Long rides away from home not laying next to the one he loves or seeing her would kill anyones soul and heart....
But another meaning comes to mind that maybe when he says "road" it means his life..He's married to her yet he can't change the way he lives or the way he is for anyone...Maybe he hurt her and he misses her but he can't change the way he is cause that's just his life....His life maybe so painfull to live that her watching him live it pushes her away....But he needs her cause she is what keeps him saine in life..She is his safe place and he doesn't want to let the best thing thats ever happened in his life fade away....=)pure awesomeness!!!
