I thought it was kind of obvious that he wasn't engaging in a relationship with the girl "on purpose." By that, I mean that he didn't know she was as young as she was.

@stonelions Exactly. A lot of people think this a song is about a paedophile preying on a young girl when its just the opposite. A decent guy discovering a girl is too young for him and pushing her away. I guess some people just don\'t listen to the full song.
