I thought it was kind of obvious that he wasn't engaging in a relationship with the girl "on purpose." By that, I mean that he didn't know she was as young as she was. You've kept the secret of your youth You led me to believe you're old enough To give me love And now it hurts to know the truth ^ Obviously, she had lied/led him to believe otherwise about her age. Before he knew, however, he had fallen in love with her.
