Peer Lyrics

Cover art for Peer lyrics by Chevelle

ok so this is probably one of my favorite songs by chevelle. I see many different meanings in different parts of the song. Im going to try to bring them back together at the end though.

I'd like to leave this In my youth Pick me up on your way Send away virus Drink sight is water Drink sight is water

This seams to be about alcoholism. The virus is alcoholism. Drink, sight is water is how i read it with the comma. Drink being a command. switch it around water is sight. Stop drinking and drink water.

Watch him sell mugs to bikers To make a million dollars Place you stamp here Send out love letters The skin on top his hands Has dried to red

This seems like the effects of alcoholism. Selling mugs at a cheap stand on the street, working at the post office. Saying to a customer, "place you(r) stamp here." Both are crappy jobs that maybe an alcoholism could get. Maybe I'm stretching the lyrics though. The skin turns red due to manual labor jobs.

The words, want them touch them The nerve, why are you here Back off peer I am on top of this Back off peer I am on top of this back off I need to make decisions And I want to leave yea back off Banned

"the words, want them touch them" Seems like the words a friend might say that you need to get your life turned around. He doesn't want their help, back off peer. I know what I'm doing. "And I want to leave yea back off" Seems like what someone might say to a friend that is trying to not let them drive home drunk, being a highschooler that is what comes to mind. Banned....I'm not really sure and am going to stretch this. Banned from being friends, banned from the world.

I read these lyrics for maybe 5 minutes and this is what I came up with. I could be going totally down the wrong direction with alcoholism but that seems right to me. Comment please.
