I personally think this song is about how we feel when everything is not like it use to be with our love ones, but we still try to hold on, but in the same time, we realize it’s nothing to hold on to.

This line, in my opinion shows that this guy have nothing left to share with his gf because he jus doesn’t know anything interesting that he can talk about because if he talk, then the gf would be boring, so he better don’t talk at all.
