For me this song is about the emotions involving sex. When you have sex with someone for pleasure, it is easy to fall into the trap of attachment (because that is human nature) - It is about those who deal with this by cutting themselves off from the feelings of love, removing themselves (spitting it out after sex like semen or even blood). "Playing the game" is referring to the game of love, emotion, attachment. "Don't beg the question when the answer is war" is the idea of playing with fire, the idea of saying I love you and then entering the game (the war) and putting it all on the line. The song is about every aspect of this situation - from the sadness about people who cut themselves off (I've been one of those people, it breaks you apart), and the emotion involved with falling for one of those people.
