I honestly hadn't considered a religious reference before but it makes perfect sense. Eddie now has some much to lose that he didnt before. Sure, he's always had music but now he has a family.
Especially after doing the work he did for Into the Wild, I think he may have a different outlook on life. And he's not ashamed to thank God for it.
