Maybe he wants to tell her something in his past that he knows might make her upset. I think it can have any number of meanings but something that hit me is the line "What if it makes you lose faith in me, and what if it makes you question every moment you cannot see?"
I feel like it's easy to wonder the way someone close to you will act when they aren't around you, whether you let it affect you or not.
The only part I don't understand is the part after that where he says "What if it makes you crash and you can't find the key?" Does anyone know what he means by that?
But yeah I definitely agree. He has so much power and emotion in his voice in this song; it makes it twice as good. Probably my favorite song on the album because of that.
