The guy is afraid of some bad event happening (probably just a generic fear of anything bad happening ever) and this girl comes along and helps him out. She makes him forget his fear and they fall in love. Whenever he has problems she helps him to get through them. But then the problem he's dealing with is their relationship. Eventually this problem becomes too much and she leaves him. Suddenly his fears have been realized and he doesn't have her to help him through it. The song ends with him stubbornly repeating that he'll get her back, but in reality he has as much chance of raising the dead.
