I remember listening to this song and always end up thinking "Whaaat??" at the end, because I never could grasp the meaning. But then one day, it just hit me. And ever since, My Hands has been one of my favorite songs on the album. I LOVE it. So here's what I think it's about. Might be wrong, but it works for me. lol.

The first few lines were always really cryptic and confusing. They were so random until one time I read them and had an epiphany. "Accidentally on purpose I dropped my watch behind the tire. Threw my alarm clock inside the fireplace..." It's about stopping time! That's the theme of the song. Basically, the way I see it, David is far away from his girl, or they're about to be seperated, and all he wants to do is stop time and be with her. "But it's harder to hold on to your hands than the hands of time." And once she leaves, or they're apart, he doesn't want to think of how much time has passed. "And I put the phone on the front lawn; everything that shows time is gone." But he still misses her. "I'm outside in this cold still looking for you..." I love this part especially. "If everything would stop I'd listen for your heart to lead me right to you, yeah. I've tried every way I can..." Again, he wants to stop time. Because if everything else is stopped and silent, he might be able to hear her heart and find her. It's a very romantic and kind of heartbreaking song once you finally figure out what it means to you. ♥

I love it. David Archuleta is incredible. He tells stories with his songs and his voice... ♥
