"My Hands" as written by James Edward Ii Fauntleroy, Zukhan Bey and Emanuel S. Kiriakou....
Saw you from the distance
Saw you from the stage
Something 'bout the look in your eyes
Something 'bout your beautiful face
In a sea of people
There was only you
I never knew what this song was about
But suddenly now I do

Trying to reach out to you
Touch my hand
Reach out as far as you can
Only me, only you, and the band
Trying to reach out to you
Touch my hand

Can't let the music stop
Can't let this feeling end
'Cause if I do it'll all be over
I'll never see you again

Can't let the music stop
Until I touch your hand
'Cause if I do it'll all be over
I'll never get the chance again
I'll never get the chance again
I'll never get the chance again

I see the sparkle of a million flashlights
I wonder why all the stars
But the one that's shining out so bright
Is the one right where you are

Trying to reach out to you
Touch my hand
Reach out as far as you can
Only me, only you, and the band
Trying to reach out to you
Touch my hand

Can't let the music stop
Can't let this feeling end
'Cause if I do it'll all be over
I'll never see you again

Can't let the music stop
Until I touch your hand
'Cause if I do it'll all be over
I'll never get the chance again
I'll never get the chance again

Saw you from the distance
Saw you from the stage
Something 'bout the look in your eyes
Something 'bout your beautiful face,

Can't let the music stop
Can't let this feeling end
'Cause if I do it'll all be over
I'll never see you again

Can't let the music stop
Until I touch your hand
'Cause if I do it'll all be over
I'll never get the chance again
I'll never get the chance again

Trying to reach out to you
Touch my hand (I'll never get the chance again)
Reach out as far as you can (I'll never get the chance again)
Only me, only you, and the band
Trying to reach out to you
Touch my hand
Yeah, yeah

General Commentokayyy so i've been trying to interpret this song for quite some time because i just LOVEE it and i think i finally got it so here it goes....

i think the time thing ("Accidentally on purpose I dropped my watch behind the tire Threw my alarm clock inside the fireplace") represents the busy-ness and chaotic-ness of life and how it can threaten a relationship if not enought time is invested in the relationship. i think the singers life is so crazy that he hasnt invtested enough time in his relationship causing it to fail. he wants his lover to know that he's really trying to balance his relationship with his schedule and that he still loves her and wants her to stay with him. he wants her to know that he needs her to hold on and just not give up on their relationship even though it seems like he lost her within in his busy life....and if he could, he'd definitely stop time and try to fix their relationship ("If everything would stop I'd listen for your heart To lead me right to you")

    yahhh idk...maybe??

My InterpretationI remember listening to this song and always end up thinking "Whaaat??" at the end, because I never could grasp the meaning. But then one day, it just hit me. And ever since, My Hands has been one of my favorite songs on the album. I LOVE it.
So here's what I think it's about. Might be wrong, but it works for me. lol.

The first few lines were always really cryptic and confusing. They were so random until one time I read them and had an epiphany. "Accidentally on purpose I dropped my watch behind the tire. Threw my alarm clock inside the fireplace..."
It's about stopping time! That's the theme of the song.
Basically, the way I see it, David is far away from his girl, or they're about to be seperated, and all he wants to do is stop time and be with her.
"But it's harder to hold on to your hands than the hands of time."
And once she leaves, or they're apart, he doesn't want to think of how much time has passed. "And I put the phone on the front lawn; everything that shows time is gone." But he still misses her. "I'm outside in this cold still looking for you..."
I love this part especially. "If everything would stop I'd listen for your heart to lead me right to you, yeah. I've tried every way I can..." Again, he wants to stop time. Because if everything else is stopped and silent, he might be able to hear her heart and find her.
It's a very romantic and kind of heartbreaking song once you finally figure out what it means to you. ♥

    I love it.
David Archuleta is incredible. He tells stories with his songs and his voice... ♥

My InterpretationI think that it's about him wanting to stop time and be with his girlfriend. For some reason there's something wrong with the relationship and he notices it. He wants to stop time so that he can prolong the relationship because he doesn't want to break up with her.

    I don't know, I'm probably wrong.
