@Fifem_x I know I'm a bit late to comment but I grew up in the 80s and the dress sizes have definitely shrunk a size and people got bigger. If you are a size 14 now you would have been a 12 back then. Average dress size back then was 12. 10 was preferred and size 8 for thin pretty people. 6 did not exist and no one would have thought 4 possible! Plus he was probably getting his womens dress size info from his mum/friend who may have lied about her dress size

Uh- size 12 is not "worn my fat people", I'm hastened to add! It's smaller than the British average which is a 16..
