Lol, rap songs have been brutally ripping off old dance songs lately. First T.I. ripped off Dragostea Din Tei with "Live your life" and now Flo Rida is ripping off "You spin me around" by Dead or Alive.
Proves rap taks no musical talent or creativty at all.
It actually is quite the opposite when you think of it. It shows that they are creative enough to take a part of a song and recreate it into their own hit. It's not like Tip and Flo Rida just straight up covered their respective songs, they just took a small part of it and reincarnated it into instant hits. It's not a crime.

Actually, it is a crime unless they get signed permission from the original artist. Copyright laws, my friend. I'm pretty sure FR didn't go talk to DOA for permission for this song. See him in court.

I'm pretty sure he did but if a court case arise, then I'll stand corrected. What my "point" was that it shows creativity that an artist can take a part of a song and reuse it so it can be a new good song. It's not like it's a straight cover of a song, that's different, not as much creativity, if at all. But I guess we can just agree to disagree.

It isn't illegal. You may not think it is very creative and a rip off, but his label is paying royalties to Dead or Alive to use the sample. You will not be seeing him in court. Sorry to disappoint.

I am in total agreement with your statement in reference to RAP music.. it really takes no talent, and especially if you are doing a re-make ( and a lame remake, at that ) of a song that you have ripped off of another artist, and are trying your best to make it look as an ORIGINAL song by you..SHAME ON YOU , Flo Rida.. and I hope that Dead or Alive takes you to Court for plagiarizing their copyrighted material....it is a good song , to begin with...Flo Rida just wanted to make it more " sellable "...

I guess when those masses of people wake up and STOP buying Rap, and making all these rappers wealthy, it will return from whence it came.. to nothingness...
This guy's right, rappers on the first part need to actually sing instead of talking. Other wise I feel like I'm at a converence listening to some jerk talk while there's a spring break party going on outside. Seriosuly, Flo Rida has no talent at all to start off with. He's idiot who takes other artists songs and then turns them into shit. Seriously if he rips off another good song that I grew up with I'm going to one of his concerts to kick his ass.

The thing with taking parts from other songs is that the artist doesn't seem to credit the original band with anything. Most of the people who know the Flo Rida song will never have heard of Dead or Alive, or at least never heard of this particular song. It's like when Madonna released Hung Up, and only the older generations (and people with a basic musical knowledge) knew that it was an ABBA tune, while all the younger people, who make up most of the radio demographic, just thought Madonna had released another wonder hit.

Welll, I think you took it too far when you said rappers have no talent. It really depends on the artist or the particular song. Yes, this song is crude and talentless, but some rap music is actually very creative and insightful.
