I think she's a dreamer, that had been crushed by reality after a long time of living in illusion. She realizes now that she can't be with the guy she dreams about every night. And it probably kills her, beacuse knowing that won't make the dream go away. Maybe they're too different to "find each other" and at the same time too busy trying, to be found by somebody else.
