i wanna go to hawaii
build my castle outta sand
and i won't need anybody
telling me that i can't

and you can't say that you see me
if you don't know
who i am
you, can't say that you need me
if neither one of us can be found
if neither one of us can be found

i wanna soak up the water
i dream about you every night
and then my mind will be in order
take it away
in just one flight

then you can't say that you see me
if you don't know
who i am
you, can't say that you need me
if neither one of us can be found
if neither one of us can be found
if neither one of us can be found

i reckon that she likes someone, but she cant bring herself to make herself known to him. so she talks about going to hawaii and building her life on sand (unstable foundations). she thinks that if he doesnt know about her and if she only dreams about him then the feeling will go away, her mind will be in order just the way she likes it. he wont chase her if he cant see her, something she is afraid of. thats what i got anyways

it's definately about running away from problems, I think she's a dreamer, that had been crushed by reality after a long time of living in illusion. She realizes now that she can't be with the guy she dreams about every night. And it probably kills her, beacuse knowing that won't make the dream go away. Maybe they're too different to "find each other" and at the same time too busy trying, to be found by somebody else. what's sure she wants to get rid of this feelings and have she's careless life back it's also probable that identify myself with her too much to see the truth meaning of the song but whatever;) it's still a great tune

I heard this song on Greys Anatomy. My dad and I loved it, so I immediatley searched the lyrics on the web. I'm not rly sure what it's about. Maybe she wants to escape from a past relationship. So she goes to Hawaii...idk. Can someone plz tell me what it means.

To me, this seems like someone wants to get away [hawaii just seems like an example of somewhere far off] and know no one, start over, and just live. Almost like it's all imaginary.

I love this song. I think it means how she has feelings for a person but they don't know it. She wants to take this person to Hawaii so maybe they can get to know each other? But I agree that it might it also be how she wants to get away from everything and go somewhere far away.

first off... i LOOOOVE this song. can't get enough of it!! i personally think it's about getting over someone. she wants to go somewhere far away (hawaii for instance) where she can just deal with the break up in her own way in solice... without the issues of daily life. she still very much cares about that other person and "dream about them every night" but she believes that if she went somewhere like hawaii, in paradise, she won't think of them anymore "taken away in just one flight." she is giving herself and the other person space so that "neither one of them can be found" and they can both get over each other and move on for good. ...but that's just my take on it. idk, i still love this song!!

Taylor Swift
This song is Swift's response to the negative reputation the media has given her. "I can make the bad guys good for a weekend" - the bad guys are the paparazzi to Swift, but are good to the "player" since association with Swift immediately gives publicity. Any publicity is good publicity and Swift knows this. "You can tell me when it's over" - the tabloids rumor relationships are over before the couple announces it officially. With this song Swift is portraying the way she is portrayed by the media. It is a sarcastic jab at how she views herself and how her "ex-lovers" only wanted to be with her to increase their fame. I applaud the brilliance in writing about how you always write about relationships. It is expected so Swift is giving the media what they want and profiting off the attention.
