Omg im reading yout interpretations and i can't help to think that this song is absolutely not about god, his fans, the music industry and sh*t
Here it goes, my own interpretation, and I believe it to be bether than any of those above:
The song is about love. As usual. Particularly about the desire to love.
The thing that is given voice in this song is the desire to open one'self soul to another and give in to another love adventure, yet this feeling is repressed, and it's telling that it'll never die, until cruel death hits it's owner
now you know where i've been
as you sleep, torn i am
wear you down
patiently
born of love
it lurks, patiently, it is born out of love
forgotten touch
forbidden thought
we can never have enough
this thing tells that it cannot be hold back for long
forever waiting
on the ways of your desire
you always find your way
and thru it all, into us all you move
this basic desire to give in to love and open one'self soul to another is inherent to every human bean, and billy, the author of the song, basicaly tells that he tried to deny this feeling, based perhaps on a bad previous experience, but in the end, it will never die
the everlasting gaze ultimately means being in love, surrendering to love and it's ilusions, and the song tells that we all want that, to be enchanted in the rapture of his sentimental sway, but he the author is in fact repressing hes feelings

@desaurido don't agree entirely with you but good interpretation and like the thinking.
