This song is defnitely about passion. I see it as loving passion, as all of the images are so romantic. "Moonlight on canvas, midnight and wine" "The picture they're painting, Is one of the heart. And to those who have seen it, It's a true work of art." "But when love picks its shade it demands to be seen." In other words, I don't see what Carmen sees AT ALL, I see the complete opposite. Not meaningless sex, but rather, the kind of sex that happens when two people are completely in love and passionate about eachother. But I bet a shrink could have a field day with what is read into this song.
